The Kingsburg Times
Janet M Kelly
Where did this famous term originate? We the People. The origins may surprise most Americans. It originated from The Constitution of the Iroquois Nation. Our founding fathers, after much debate of the virtues of agreements from The Mayflower Compact, and both ancient and modern agreements from Europe and the Middle East, such as the Magna Carta, determined that the Constitution of the Iroquois Nation best outlined their vision of what a country of the people, for the people, and by the people should look like. So who can we thank for this term? The five Iroquois Nations using their wisdom in uniting their warring peoples, and our founding fathers using their wisdom to adopt what the Iroquois agreed upon.
